What to expect
Your fishing in Alaska! Expect the trip of a life time. You will be fishing some of the most famous fishing waters in the world. These areas are home to an abundance of wildlife. Be sure to bring a camera because its not uncommon to see eagles and moose along the float. Your guide will have a great knowledge of fishing as well as be familiar with the local history and wildlife on these waters. Expect to begin full day trips early in the morning (4:00am-5:00am) and get off the water around noon to early afternoon. You will want to bring along snacks, rain gear, fishing license, and a camera.
Tour departure
Upper Kenai trips always start at the Kenai River Bridge in Cooper Landing, and end at Sportsman’s Landing (Russian River Ferry).
Directions to Cooper Landing Boat Launch/Day Use Area: from Anchorage, take AK-1 S/Seward Highway for approximately 90 miles (depending on location in Anchorage). Merge onto AK-1 S/Sterling Hwy/I-A1 toward Homer, continue 11 miles. Take the first access road to the right after the Kenai River Bridge into the parking area. Please note there is a $5 day-use fee for parking.
Middle River trips usually begin at Lower Skilak Campground in Sterling and end either at Bing’s Landing or Moose River (both in Sterling).
Directions to Lower Skilak Lake Campground: from Anchorage, take AK-1 S/Seward Highway for approximately 90 miles. Merge onto AK-1 S/Sterling Hwy/I-A1 toward Homer, continue 45 miles. Turn left at milepost 74.5 onto Skilak Lake Loop, continue 4 miles. Turn right onto Lower Skilak Campground access road, continue .5 miles. Parking is available straight ahead near the boat launch, but it is recommended that you park in over-flow Lot A or B just before the lake.
Sometimes Middle River trips run from Bing’s Landing to the “End of Road” launch or even all the way down to Swiftwater if the fishing has been better down there. It all depends on timing, which is somewhat predictable but different from year to year.
Directions to Bing’s Landing: from Anchorage, take AD-1 S/Seward Highway for approximately 90 miles. Merge onto AK-1 S/Sterling Hwy/I-A1 toward Homer, continue 50 miles. At milepost ____ turn left onto Bing’s Landing Rd, continue approximately 1 mile to the boat launch parking area. Please note there is a $5 fee for day-use parking.
For trips on the Kasilof
Tours will depart from the Kasilof public boat launch at 109.5 Sterling Highway. From Soldotna drive on Sterling highway about 12.5 miles (heading towards Homer) until you see the Kasilof bridge then turn left immediately right after the bridge. Once you get to boat launch your guide will be waiting at the water. Your guide will contact you at least 48 hours in advance to confirm departure location.
